Independent Chair

Are you looking for an experienced Independent Chair who can provide assurance, governance and confidence in the outcomes?

Listening, wanting to understand what makes people and organisations more effective and efficient is part of my reputation as someone who has standards and expectations, who sees solutions and has great resilience to support or challenge as the issue requires. I have a wealth of experience in chairing Boards of senior staff, often in specialist technical areas where I bring a true independence to the subject matter. 

While I was chairing the Strategic Planning Group where there are nine local authorities (City, County and Districts) plus the Local Enterprise Partnership, we made significant progress in creating an agreed growth plan to 2050. I coordinated the strategic direction and ensured the delivery of the agreed objectives. I have also had the opportunity to be the Chair of Derbyshire Health United Urgent Care Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland (LLR) CIC Board. I was appointed to bring an independent judgement and work with both Non-Executive and Executive Directors to inform, deliver and develop the LLR Urgent Care service and strategy in line with commissioning requirements.

Non Executive Director

Are you seeking a Non Executive Director who will bring appropriate skills and experience to enhance your Board’s delivery?

Since 2008, I have had a broad range of experience working at Board level and in a non-executive role. I understand the significant difference between the Executive and the Non Executive role and can provide references from a wide range of Executives to explain my recent contributions. These include the Vice-Chancellor and President of Loughborough University, Principal and Chief Executive Stephenson College and Police Chief Superintendent.

Developing a coaching culture

As a qualified ILM level 7 executive coach and mentor, I bought my knowledge of the best practice in developing an organisational coaching culture together with my business experience to create the "The best Employee Experience" for North West Leicestershire District Council in 2010.

Independent Assessor

Are you looking for an experienced senior executive who can support your assessment of candidates applying for your key leadership roles?

In my career, particularly within local government, I have extensive experience in recruiting senior executive teams including Directors and Heads of Service and also more recently Chief Executive recruitment.

I have lead three Local Government Association Peer Review Teams which aim to bring constructive challenge and support to local authorities.  I was required to use my ability to assess the leadership teams of the Council’s and whether they were in a positive position to implement the identified outcomes.

I am very experienced and comfortable in assessing the complimentary balance needed in such roles, including strategic thinking, the ability to accept accountability, challenge constructively whilst inspiring trust and confidence with stakeholders - elected Members, businesses, communities and staff.
